Luke Bisagna is a collaborative media professional who specializes in post-production. He has over 20 years of experience as an editor, sound designer, mixer, and media manager on award-winning documentary films and educational videos. His strengths include effective collaboration, creative problem solving, media analysis and implementation, teaching and mentoring, and a keen sense of the compelling nature and emotional impact of sound.
Luke’s philosophy when it comes to sound work is to facilitate true audience immersion in a place, a character-driven scene, an emotion, thought, idea, message, or any other communication. This is accomplished in part by sonically placing the viewer within the on-screen setting through the implementation of intelligent environmental sound design. But equally as effective is Luke’s use of psychoacoustics to connect the audience to the core mindset of characters, emotional intent, and to the communication of nuanced ideas. This method serves to transform the viewing experience from passive to one of active participation.
As a professor, Luke has found that students who are genuinely inspired and empowered with the tools and motivation to unleash their creative abilities are quite likely to stop at nothing to produce work that is impactful, artistic, and innovative. Therefore, it has been a constant goal of his to foster an educational environment in which students are met with positive, forward-focused energy from him as a professor and from their fellow classmates. This serves as a practical manifestation of the collaboration necessary in the professional world to achieve true, meaningful, and lasting success. Luke believes that the educational environment can be the gateway to the confident pursuit of career endeavors, and to a lifetime of positive community engagement. To that end, Luke puts forth effort to the greatest extent possible to ensure each and every one of his students understand, believe…truly know that they have that ingenious, prolific spark of magic within themselves that enables them to effect real and positive change in our world.
Luke is a Southern California native who currently resides in the high desert, adjacent to Joshua Tree National Park.
